Indonesian

Students at KPS participate in 2 sessions of Indonesian each week, taught by a specialist teacher.

Learning to communicate in another language challenges students to participate in our interconnected world. It also helps them to explore and recognise their own cultural identities as they come to understand those of the language being learnt. Learning another language also develops and strengthens overall literacy.

This year, Indonesian and ICT are being linked from years 3 to 6. The students complete tasks using programs on the school laptops and have access to online learning as well as activities designed by the teacher.

Gradually, classes are being added to the Education Department`s Connect online learning platform, which enables students to access teacher-created lesson content online, complete it at their own pace and submit it.

KPS has a Sister School relationship with SDN11 Jimbaran, a government primary school in Bali, Indonesia. Students have exchanged information in Indonesian and English. Two teachers from Kingsley and a family have been warmly welcomed when visiting the school in Bali.
